| The 15208-60U00 has always had a small list of applications in particular the VG30DE engine cars... ours & J30s. For all these years Nissan maintained a seperate part number, and model for our cars. The 15208-55Y00 has historiclly been an "all purpose" filter that has no fewer then 20 some applications listed from Pathfinders, Sentras, 240SX, and Z31s. Now suddenly we're told that hey don't worry they are all the same just use which ever - which is contrary to ever service bulletin, Service Manual, and TTnet post I've ever read. To me its a matter of product line consolidation and cost cutting - from the smallest service part to the platform the Z33 & G35 share. Now that most Z32 are out of warranty and being pushed to the sidelines in the minds of the revenue stream I'm not surprised that "specialized" service parts are being phased out. No current Nissan car calls for the 60U00 filter - and it doesn't make sense to keep it around for just this sliver of their installed base which with age is less and less likely to buy OEM parts. Generaly once a car is on its 3 or later owner it's pretty much lost its tie to a dealership or relation to using OEM parts. Either way - my car will be running the original spec filter for years to come, and I'm sure others locally will benefit from this maddness as well. One day I'll realize that I'm down to one filter and then I'll have something worry about.
